Each day brings a new question for the two of you. Your answer unlocks theirs, so nobody copies. When you want something lighter, play This or That: five quick picks, then guess theirs.
Letters that wait for the right day
Write a longer letter and seal it as a time capsule. It stays closed until the date you pick, then it is theirs to open.
Milestones and a gentle streak
Day 100, day 365, day 1,000: the big ones get their own moment. A streak counts the days you both show up, and it is there for fun, never to make you feel bad. Each month you also get a little recap of what you sent each other.

Just the two of you
Everything you share is visible to exactly one person: your partner. That rule lives in the database itself, not only in the app.
Never used for ads, never sold
Your photos, notes, doodles and voice notes are never used to pick ads, and we never sell them.
Honest about ads
Dote is free because of a small banner ad on two screens, History and Us. Never inside a moment, never while you send one. Dote Plus removes ads for both of you.
Honest about analytics
The app uses PostHog and Google Firebase to see which features get used and to fix crashes, and TikTok to measure our own ads. On iPhone, ads can use your ad ID only if you allow it.
No email or phone number to start
To start, you are a random ID. If you want to move to a new phone later, you can choose to sign in with Apple or Google.
Deleting is real
Export your memories any time. If you unpair, there is a 30-day window to change your minds, then everything is permanently deleted, photos included.

Yes, and we want to be clear about it. Free users see a small banner ad on two screens, never inside a moment or while sending one, and Dote Plus removes ads for both of you. The app uses analytics from PostHog and Google Firebase to see which features get used and to fix crashes, and TikTok to measure our own ad campaigns. Do I need an email or phone number to use Dote?
No. You can start without an email or phone number. If you want to get your couple back on a new phone later, you can choose to sign in with Apple or Google.
What happens to our photos if we unpair or delete our account?
You can export your memories at any time. If you unpair, there is a 30-day window in case you change your minds, and either of you can invite the other back. After 30 days everything is permanently deleted, photos included. You can delete your account in the app or by email.
